If you want to cut down on the odds of getting sui-ganked, you have to do like you do when you go out into the big city at night--use common sense: 1. Don't go into dangerous neighborhoods if you can possibly avoid it. If you're getting sui-ganked at Jita--Don't go to Jita!--problem solved. 2. Be prepared. Forego that extra cargo container or extra mining laser and tank yourself--put on that shield extender and/or extra armor or repair unit. 3. Don't jetcan unless you've got someone flying cover for you. If you jetcan alone, you're just asking for someone to flip your can--it's like the newcomer to the big city standing there gawking at the skysc****rs. 4. This actually goes with 1, 2, and 3--If you're in a dangerous area and especially if you're doing serious mining or hauling valuable cargo don't fly alone--have a corp mate or two fly top cover for you. 5. Insure yourself--at least you'll get something back 6. Don't give the griefer what he wants most--your rage and your tears. No matter how mad or upset you are, don't rage talk, smack talk, or otherwise reward the lolz ganker. Just go on about your way. Put him on your watchlist and learn from the experience. BTW, you should figure in the cost of being sui-ganked into your business calculations anyway--that's just common business sense.
All that being said, there actually is a way for carebear corps to, if not put an end to high sec griefing, to severely cut it down--but it'll never happen. To do it would require every carebear corp to work together and stick together (as if that's going to happen), and it's long term--it would take months, maybe even a couple of years--real time--before it pans out and would call for real sacrifice on the part of the carebear corps. It would also call for CCP to succeed in its war on bots and then keep the bots out once expelled. To be honest, I don't see any of those preconditions happening.
TL, DR: If you don't want to get ganked, use common sense, and even then you're still probably going to get ganked at some point or other so learn to deal with it. "Politics is the art of looking for trouble, finding it everywhere, diagnosing it incorrectly and applying the wrong remedies."
